Rossmin was privileged to participate in the Farmers’ Day and Information Sharing Session on Vegetable Crop Production hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in partnership with Sutherland Seedlings in the Harry Gwala District.
The event was held under the theme “Promoting Sustainable Vegetable Production and Food Security”, bringing together farmers, agricultural specialists, government representatives, development agencies, and industry stakeholders committed to strengthening South Africa’s agricultural sector.
The programme provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. Farmers were exposed to innovative vegetable production techniques, seedling quality management practices, climate adaptation strategies, fertilisation programmes, and available agricultural support initiatives aimed at improving productivity and ensuring long-term sustainability.
As a supplier of agricultural lime, Rossmin recognises the critical role that soil health plays in sustainable crop production. Healthy soils form the foundation of successful farming enterprises, influencing nutrient availability, root development, water utilisation, and ultimately crop yields. Liming remains one of the most effective soil management practices for correcting soil acidity and creating optimal growing conditions for vegetables and other crops.
The event also highlighted the importance of partnerships in developing resilient agricultural communities. Through collaboration between government, industry, agricultural experts, and farmers, practical solutions can be implemented to improve food security, increase productivity, and create economic opportunities in rural areas.
Rossmin appreciates the opportunity to engage with farmers and stakeholders in the Harry Gwala District and to contribute to discussions focused on sustainable agricultural development. Events such as these reinforce the importance of knowledge sharing and demonstrate the positive impact that industry partnerships can have on supporting both emerging and commercial farmers.
We would like to thank the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and all event organisers for facilitating a successful and informative programme. Rossmin remains committed to supporting South African agriculture through quality agricultural lime products, technical support, and ongoing engagement with the farming community.
Together, we can build healthier soils, stronger farms, and a more food-secure future for South Africa.
