In the true spirit of Mandela Day, the Women in Mining at Rossmin in partnership with Rossmin Management reached out to the children of ASSISI Children Shelter. Guided by the theme of “service and compassion” the team donated food parcels, blankets and warm clothing to bring comfort and joy to the children during the chilly winter month.
The initiative, held in celebration of the legacy of Nelson Mandela, was both successful and heartwarming. The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and a meaningful connection. More than just a donation drive, the event was a powerful display of community care and solidarity.
Beyond this single act of service, the Rossmin Women in Mining group is actively involved in long-term community empowerment. A continuous mentorship programme for matriculants is currently underway, where the women provide guidance, support, and assistance with university applications. They have already applied to tertiary institutions, marking a critical first step in their journey toward a brighter future.
This mentorship programme is more than academic support—it is a bridge between potential and opportunity. Through regular engagement, the Women in Mining are helping shape confident, educated young leaders who can contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.
The initiative forms part of Rossmin Mine’s broader commitment to social development and inclusive empowerment, with the Women in Mining group playing a pivotal role in leading community-focused projects.
By dedicating their time and resources to those in need, these women demonstrated the powerful impact of collective action. True to Mandela’s words, they are walking the path of leadership through service—ensuring that their work builds not only careers, but also communities.
